Mixed Reactions Trail ‘Self Protective’ Method Deployed By Osun Residents
Some road users in Ilesa, osun state have described the self protective measure put in place by residents to wade off marauders as commendable, but condemned the burn fire set on the asphalt road during the watch night as anti developmental .
One of the residents, Mr Joel Adekanye said the residents were left with no alternative in the wake of serial attacks on communities in ilesa by suspected armed without any arrest made by the police.
He called the resident’s attention to the damages the burn fire can cause to the asphalt which repair by the government when become pot holes on the road may not be quick.
Also, a resident Mr. Tony Jegede who supported the idea of the vigilante party to scare away men of the underworld, advised that such burn fire could be set on bare soil instead of damaging the road.
Mr. Jegede emphasized that it would cause government extra money to fix the road after a solution might have been to the problem at hand instead of instituting a new infrastructural project that would benefit all.
It will be recalled that residents of ilesa have been denying themselves sleep to protect themselves against the armed robbers who have have been terrorizing the city in last 3 weeks, hacking their victims for not giving them substantial amount of money.
