Chief Dr Olubunmi Alabi has got all the 𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭 that 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐛𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 .This is why Alaje of Olopon Ajegunle HRM Olubukola Oyedunmade is bestowing her the title of Yeye Abiye.
In Yorubaland, traditional chieftaincy titles are typically awarded on the basis of merit, community service, leadership qualities, and contributions to community development.
In the Yoruba tradition, there are various chieftaincy titles.
Some are hereditary and cannot be passed on to persons outside the line of succession, while others belong to the non-line of descent and are offered to persons who have made a positive contribution to the community in some way, be it through infrastructure projects, providing healthcare/medical services that bring investment and jobs to the community, etc. Additionally, building strong relationships with community leaders and elders can also play a significant role in obtaining a chief title in Yorubaland.
